The Biblionet program has introduced pop-up survey software to better gauge user satisfaction and to identify potential new library services.
IREX is systematically trying to understand your needs and the way in which computers may better inform and aid in the resolution of personal or professional problems. That’s why we will periodically update the data in this page based on your answers. Information provided by you will assist both IREX and public librarians improve the services offered in your library.
The purpose of this section in our web page is to provide library users with an image of the way they’re opinions are being used and to understand the opinions of other users in a very informative manner.
The latest graphics are based on the replies of 3500 library users answering pop-up survey questionnaires, completed online in one of the 235 public libraries included in the Biblionet program. The information provided is for responses provided before 1 April 2010.
Thank you!

Here are a few examples of success stories from the pilot phase of the Biblionet program:
Developing a small business
Mr. Dumitru Taraboi from Iasi is an IT manager for several forums and the company he works for keeps in touch with several advertising agencies. Besides the rapid intervention when something goes wrong with the forums, his work involves trips to advertisers, raising the posters and web publication. He explained that the opening of the four branch libraries in Iasi was the best thing that could happen to him. He no longer needs to go home every time he needs to get online to do his job.
Meanwhile, due to his continued presence at the branch libraries he began to help as a volunteer for the librarians, solving small problems with computer hardware or software or assisting other library users.
School Guidance
Miss Laura Gage is student in her final year of Iasi high school. For some time, she tried to decide what to do after leaving school. By frequenting the library after it received the IT donation has her to regularly search for information on various universities especially related to the Faculty of Geography and various jobs in that field. She firmly believes that because of the information found on the Internet she has decided to attend college and believes it is much easier and faster to browse this way.
Education
Mrs. Nicoleta Malancus found a suitable school for her 14 years old son. Living with his family in Baru, a commune in Hunedoara County, she doesn’t have access to many sources of information and for this reason she frequently visits the public library. So if the library didn’t have computers, internet access, and a well trained librarian who works at this library she would not have been able to find this high school in a different city.
Alternative education
Besides the many students that use the public library computers and online services, teachers also find the new services of benefit. Miss Doina Crihana, an English professor in Iloaiei Bridge, a village in Iasi, is a loyal patron of the Iasi public library. In a desire to make her lesson plans more attractive to her students, she began to seek online information about British culture and civilization, and because these lessons were so successful, she managed to stir interest amongst her students to actively seek related information on the Internet.
Moreover, her students are now willing to go to public libraries in other cities, which was of no interest to them before. Miss Crihana expressed her delightful surprise as to the degree to which librarian skills and attitudes enhanced the public library and admitted that at one point in time would have given up looking for certain information, if the librarian had not helped her.
