The Library Grows with Me: The First Graduates of the Summer School Are Already Applying the Things They Have Learned
The 17 young librarians from nine public libraries in Romania attending the training courses of the first edition of the Summer School for Young Librarians announce the successful conclusion of the training courses. These first graduates will help to increase the role of public libraries within their communities by adapting to the information needs of the inhabitants.
The training programme took place in September 6th – 12th, 2010 in Bran and was organized within the framework of Biblionet, by the IREX Foundation (The International Research and Exchanges Board) and ANBPR (National Association of Librarians and Public Libraries in Romania).
The trainees benefited of the experience and guidance of specialists in Advocacy, Communication, Marketing and Project Management. All young librarians working in public libraries in Romania, under 35 years of age and having maximum 5 years in this profession, who attended a contest of projects addressed to the communities they serve, have been eligible.

During the six days of training the trainees have learned how to design programmes effectively addressing the priority needs of the community. Once back home, the Summer School graduates will apply the projects, keeping in touch with and being advised by the IREX trainers.
The participating librarians have been from Bacău, Buzău, Braşov, Dolj, Harghita, Iaşi, Mureş, Vaslui, Satu Mare and Suceava counties.
