The Mortenson Center for International Library Programs and IREX Foundation are pleased to announce the launch of a new training opportunity for librarians: the Training Program for Leaders and Innovators of the Mortenson Center.
Through this program, 12 Romanian librarians will be exposed to Excellency services of some of the best libraries in the United States. The program will take place in March 2011, within a period of three weeks, at the University of Illinois Library, the largest academic library to a public university in the United States.
Who does the program address?
The program is aimed at people with experience in administrating, organizing and coordinating of departments or services / activities in the public library who, because of their positions, are able to make changes in the libraries where they work and also to help implement these changes in other public libraries in their region. Candidates can come from county, municipal, town or village public libraries.
How to apply?
Between September 13 and October 1 2010, interested persons may send the first package of application by email to office@irex.ro. This package will contain: CV candidate, cover letter and a sketch of the project.
Between 11 and 13 October 2010, after the evaluation of submitted applications, the top 20 candidates will be interviewed by telephone. Following the telephone interviews, selected candidates will be invited to complete the registration by sending the second application package: letter of commitment from the library director / supervisor of applicant, letter of recommendation from a partner and candidate commitment letter.
The final decision on the 12 candidates selected to participate in the Training Programs for Leaders and Innovators will belong to the Mortenson Center and will be made public on October 21, 2010.
